Instagram Feed Goals for Entrepreneurs

instagram feed goals for entrepreneurs, brands, influencers, & small business.png

Today I’m sharing 5 Instagram feed goals for you to accomplish that will not only help you develop a instagram feed that you’re confident in, but will leave you more likely to make a killer first impression with people who are meeting your brand on Instagram for the first time. This will help entice the right people - meaning the ones who will help grow your business - to click “follow”, and to come back to your content time and time again.

Click “play” on the video below or keep reading to learn more.

Goal 1: Be Recognizable

This means that if you have a personal brand, people should be able to recognize YOU as the owner of the account in just a few seconds of checking out your feed. You can do this by making sure you include (at a minimum) 1-2 pictures of yourself showing your face, for every 9 photos you upload. If you don’t have a personal brand, you can use this same concept with your product, service, or advice - make sure those things are a featured part of your instagram visuals.

Goal 2: Be on Brand

This means that your feed is representing your brand’s color theme, representing your aesthetic, and supporting your brand goals and motivations. The more cohesive with your visuals that you can stay, the clearer the message you’re sending to followers will be. Consistency breeds trust, and followers will continue to return to a brand they believe in. If you already have a brand color theme and aesthetic, but you don’t really feel your feed is working as a whole, check out this video: How to Create a Cohesive Instagram Feed. In the video I’ll show you exactly how to make your feed work together  as a whole. Or, you might want to check out this video: Instagram Feed Layout Ideas

Goal 3: Be clear

The next goal is to ensure your bio area is crystal clear. When followers check your profile out, and especially when they read the bio area underneath your profile picture, they should know exactly what kind of value they could expect from following you. If you’re unsure whether your instagram bio meets this goal, you might try reading it as if you were coming across it for the first time and ask yourself: “Would I know what sort of content I could expect from this account?” or, “Do I understand what this brand would add to my life?” If you’re confused about what your brand is offering people, you might want to give some thought to your motivations and purpose, and then adjust your content (and bio area) to suit those things. If you’re completely lost, try starting filling in the blanks here:

“I help ________ do/have ________, so they can ________.”

Once you fill in the blanks, customize it to suit your brand’s voice.

Goal 4: BE clickable

The 4th Instagram feed goal is really easy. Your feed needs to be clickable! Somewhere on your profile, you should let your followers know where they can dive deeper into getting to know you or your products or services better. This could be a YouTube channel, a website, an article about you, a free download, or whatever makes sense for your brand. Whatever link you include, just make sure it leads to the next logical step in someone becoming a customer of yours.

Goal 5: Be Savvy About Your Marketing

It’s a fact: Followers will quickly become uninterested in a brand that tries to sell them something in every single post without first adding value. In general, I recommend doing a straight-up promotion only every 4th post (or less). The rest of the time, focus on adding value to your audience. Even better, when you promote, add some value in your caption or visual content first. Then, promote afterwards. That way, followers will still be getting valuable content by following you (even within your promotion posts) without feeling like they’re just seeing straight-up ads all the time.

One thing you can do instead of promoting every post, is to encourage engagement from your audience in each post by using a call to action. A call to actions is basically just asking your audience to respond or do something. It could be something as simple as asking them to subscribe, or asking a specific question that can be answered in the comments. If you’d like 30 ideas on call to actions to use for your brand’s instagram, you can download a free PDF of 30 call to actions you can use on your Instagram posts by clicking here or filling out the form below.

By achieving these five goals, you can feel confident that your brand is representing your goals and motivations on instagram, while encouraging your followers to continue to look at your content. You’ll also be getting a great balance of promotional and value-based material in your feed, and helping to drive followers to other platforms to find out more about your brand. All this together will equal increases in overall engagement, and a big boost to your brand reach.
