Katie's Honey Sriracha Chicken | Freezer Dump Meal
My dear friend Katie made this recipe for a dinner night and it is incredible! I HAD to ask her for the recipe! It’s since become a go-to in our house!
I adapted some of the ingredients for my needs and altered the preparation method to make it dump-meal friendly. If you haven’t heard of freezer dump meals, you place the raw ingredients in a freezer bag, freeze it, then when you’re ready to prepare the meal you let the contents of the bag thaw overnight (or a quick warm water thaw in the AM if you forget to set it out!), then dump them in the crockpot to be ready for dinner that evening - easy peasy!
Discovering freezer dump meals has helped me SO much in adjusting to becoming a new mom. I typically make 4 freezer bags at a time (so I multiply the list below by 4 on my shopping list, and drop the measurements listed below in each freezer bag).

Katie’s Honey Sriracha Chicken, Freezer Dump Meal Style
Ingredients Per Freezer Bag
2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, uncooked
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup Sriracha (This makes it very spicy - add less if you’d like less heat!)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup coconut aminos
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Day of Ingredients
1/3 cup arrowroot flour
Optional Day of Toppings
thinly sliced green onion
chopped cilantro
sesame seeds
Assembly Instructions
Add all ingredients, except arrowroot starch, to freezer bag.
Squeeze all air out of the bag, seal, label with instructions and a “use by” date that is 3 months from now
Place in the freezer
Cooking Instructions
Remove from freezer the night before and let it naturally defrost or do a quick defrost the morning-of by placing the freezer bag in warm water.
Dump the contents of the bag into your crockpot.
Place the lid on and cook on low for 3 hours
After 3 hours, remove chicken from crockpot and place it on a cutting board
Slowly whisk the arrowroot flour into the sauce until well combined (it is even easier to use an immersion blender for this!)
Cut the chicken into large chunks and place back into crockpot. (Or shred it depending on your texture preference!)
Cook on high, covered, for an additional hour
Serve with your choice of rice (or quinoa), additional toppings, and don’t forget a veggie too! Enjoy!
Notes
Don’t put the honey in the freezer bag first, it tends to stick to the bag less if you place the broth in first.
