Caraway Cookware First Impressions
You may have been seeing Caraway Cookware all over Instagram lately. It seems like everyone is getting a set, so I had to see what the fuss was all about! Click “play” on the video below, or keep scrolling to read what I think about my new cookware set!
These pans are a great choice if you’re looking to reduce the amount of chemicals in your cooking, without sacrificing quality or looks. Caraway’s nonstick cookware has a ceramic coating which is safe, non-toxic, and comes in a variety of sizes and shapes to fit all your cooking needs.
Here are my favorite (and some of my not-so-favorite) things about this cookware set.
Pros
They’re Non-Toxic
The ceramic interior on these pans forms a great non-toxic, non-stick surface. And unlike more common Teflon pans, the coating on Caraway Cookware won’t flake off even if damaged, meaning you won’t get any bits of nonstick coating into your food. The coating is also mineral-based, so it won’t leach any chemicals into the food while you’re cooking it.
They Come with Their Own Organizers
No more scrambling for the right lids in a drawer or cabinet, these pieces of cookware come with their own lid organizer that attaches to the inside of your cabinet door. They also arrive boxed with an individual stand for each pot or pan. These organizers protect the cookware, and can be easily arranged to fit in a drawer or on a counter.
And the best part about the organizers? They’re magnetic, so they won’t slide apart, wherever you decide to set them!
They Feel Like Quality
When you pick these pieces of cookware up, the pots and pans feel like they’re the real deal! They feel heavy but well made, with sturdy handles and a thick bottom and sides. They feel like they’re really made to last and cook a lot of meals to come.
They’re Beautiful
Available in a variety of colors, each pot or pan features a beautifully colored outside, matching ceramic interior, and a shiny stainless steel handle. This set of cookware is one that I’m proud to show off on my countertops!
They Come With Freebies
I already mentioned the included organizers, but Caraway also includes cork hot pads with the pans, to protect your counters and table from heat after cooking. It feels like Caraway really went the extra mile, and tried to include freebies that I’ll use time and time again.
Cons
So what’s the one con with the Caraway Cookware? Unfortunately, you can ruin it, if you’re not careful! Here’s how that may happen:
Cooking with High Heat
Unfortunately, if someone else is unfamiliar with your cookware and cooks over high heat, it can damage the non-stick ceramic. Instead, you’ll want to cook with medium heat. But don’t fret, as a medium heat to this pan cooks like a high heat with other pans, meaning you can still fry and sauté your favorite dishes easily.
Using the Wrong Utensils
To protect the non-stick surface, avoid using metal spatulas or other utensils on your new cookware set. Although the non-stick surface won’t flake like Teflon, the pan can still get scratched and damaged. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to keep these pans looking great for a long time to come!
Cleaning with a Scratchy Pad
You can also scratch the surface if you use the wrong cleaning method. Use only soft sponges, cloths or other cleaning methods, and avoid scratching at any leftover food with Brillo pads or sponges with scratchy surfaces. Instead, soak the pans if you need to give it a really good clean. Caraway recommends using a solution of 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 cup of vinegar, and soaking the surface of the pan for 30 minutes.
The good news is, with a non-stick surface, you shouldn’t have any caked or baked on food to worry about!
